Introduction to Statistics
3 credits
Using data to make predictions
In Statistics, you'll discover how data can help you sort through information. Suddenly, what seemed like random numbers will all make sense. You will learn about probability, which is the basis for statistics. Then you can predict how likely it is that something will occur. During this course, you'll be encouraged to understand how data works and how patterns form. Maybe you'll see patterns occurring, and how certain numerical information—such as assessment scores or grocery prices—can effect you.
What's in it for you?
Making Data Make Sense
Discover how data can help you sort through information, so that suddenly, what seemed like random numbers will all make sense. You’ll also learn about probability, which is the basis for statistics and helps you predict how likely it is that something will occur.
Analytical Thinking
When you think of statistics, do you think of percentages, or tables, or how many times you’ll roll a six with dice? While those are all part of statistics, it’s also so much more. When you study data, you see how numbers repeat and how things can fit together and form patterns.
